Calypso Wallet — Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

1.1. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Calypso Wallet, a non-custodial software application designed to interact with the XRP Ledger ("XRPL"). By accessing or using Calypso, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms and confirm that you are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement.

1.2. Calypso does not store or have access to your private keys or recovery phrases. You maintain full control and responsibility over your wallet and digital assets at all times.

2. Functionality

2.1. Calypso enables users to:

  • View XRPL account balances and transaction history;
  • Create and manage trust lines;
  • Access XRPL's built-in decentralized exchange (DEX) and automated market maker (AMM) tools;
  • Buy, sell, and manage NFTs on XRPL;
  • Sign and submit XRPL transactions.

3. User Responsibilities

3.1. You agree not to use Calypso for illegal activities, including but not limited to money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or violating sanctions or export controls.

3.2. You are solely responsible for:

  • Safeguarding your private keys and recovery phrase;
  • Ensuring the accuracy and legality of your transactions;
  • Compliance with any applicable laws in your jurisdiction.

3.3. Calypso shall not be liable for any loss resulting from:

  • Forgotten or lost recovery phrases;
  • Mistaken transactions;
  • Blockchain or network errors;
  • Volatility or devaluation of digital assets.

4. Limitation of Liability

4.1. Calypso is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

4.2. In no event shall Calypso, its developers, affiliates, or partners be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of funds due to wallet inaccessibility;
  • Losses from using third-party services;
  • Blockchain disruptions or forks;
  • Changes in the value of XRPL-based assets.

4.3. You use Calypso at your own risk and understand the inherent risks of decentralized technologies.

5. No Financial Advice

Calypso does not provide financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Any tools or data presented within the app are for informational purposes only and do not constitute a recommendation to engage in any transaction.

6. Changes to Terms

Calypso reserves the right to modify or update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the wallet constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developers are based, unless otherwise required by applicable local laws.

8. Privacy and Data Protection

8.1 Data Collection and Use

Calypso Wallet does not collect personally identifiable information (PII). Data is authenticated via wallet addresses and device IDs.

  • Public blockchain data (e.g., wallet addresses, transactions);
  • Technical metadata (e.g., IP, OS, device type, browser info).

8.2 Data Minimization and Purpose Limitation

8.2.1 Data Minimization: Only essential data is collected for:

  • Wallet operations and transactions;
  • User experience improvement;
  • Legal compliance (e.g., AML/KYC where required).

8.2.2 Purpose Limitation: Data is used only for its original purpose. Any material changes will be communicated to users.

8.3 Security of Personal Information

Calypso does not store private keys or PII. Users are responsible for securing their wallets and devices. Recommendations include:

  • Use strong passwords and hardware wallets;
  • Keep recovery phrases private;
  • Keep software updated;
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi; enable MFA;
  • Verify dApp and transaction details.

8.4 Data Disclosure to Third Parties

User data may be shared only:

  • With trusted service providers for performance or analytics;
  • To comply with legal requirements;
  • With explicit user consent.

8.5 Changes to Privacy Practices

Changes to privacy practices will be communicated via updates and/or platform notifications.
